WA State Ferries Public Hearing Tonight
T onight is your chance to get up and be heard, for three minutes anyway, at the Washington State Ferries Public Hearing being held at the Anacortes Senior Center at 1701 22nd street at 6:30 PM. Each person will have three minutes to voice their opinion on the two long-term plans being considered by WSF and our leaders. Plan A envisions a continuation of the current ferry service at it’s current level with no increases, or decreases, in service through 2030 despite a projected increase in ridership of 38% (78% on the International Run). Plan B is to cut service to many routes including the San Juan Islands and the elimination of the International Run. Plan A calls for 10 new boats being built during the next 21 years, Plan B cuts that to 5 new boats.
Tonight’s public hearing is designed to give you a chance to go on record, so please take advantage of this opportunity to support the International Run and in doing so, support many local businesses and our local economy. If you are unable to attend, you may provide a written response on the Washington State Ferry website.
